Our September Meeting
After a very hot and humid day, our September meeting was a social evening, kindly held in the beautiful garden of our members Linda & Tony Gurr’s. Everyone fully appreciated relaxing in the cool of the evening and catching up with each other.
Starting slightly earlier than usual, it gave everyone a chance to wander around the garden and see the lovely topiary, pots and flower borders.
The Green Bowl Photo Competition entitled “Flowers in my Garden” was won by Christine Hope.

Coach Trip to Green Island Gardens
Despite rain the day before, the coach set off in sunshine from the Day Centre on 19th August to visit Mrs Fiona Edmond’s 20 acre garden in Ardleigh near Colchester.
Set in mature woodland, it is a garden for all seasons, the vistas changing as the seasons progress which encouraged visitors to return to see the “garden rooms”, terraces, island beds and water gardens and ponds at different times of the year. A small nursery offered a good selection of plants found in the garden.
Another bonus was the freshly made Scones – Mrs Edmonds was kept very busy replenishing the tearoom!
